The team from Rusty Wallis Honda won the Men’s Division made up of Ryan Cannon, Robert Kersk, Paul Sisk & Steve Coalson. Steve was also the winner of the putting contest.

Sally Pines, Donna Bruns, Mimi Fisher and Tanya Magnus walked away with first prize in the Ladies Division.
It was a sell-out event and a day of fun and friendly competition benefiting Helping Hands and honoring a fallen golfer.
The annual Ambassadors Buffalo Creek Golf Tournament and its 142 golfers paid honor to the life of the late Brennen Teel, 31, the son of Ken and Becky Teel of Heath.
“It was a beautiful day dedicated to the memory of Brennen and the wonderful young man he was,” said Margo Nielsen, Executive Director of Helping Hands. “Our hearts and prayers are with his family. His death is a great loss to his family, his many friends and to our community.”
Shirley and Joe Perkins, owners of Lake June Scrap Metals in Balch Springs, were Top Sponsor of the tournament, even though they don’t play golf. The couple, who were also a sponsor last year, took an interest in Helping Hands out of respect for their physician, Dr. David Lensch, who serves as Medical Director of the agency’s Health Center.
“When we first found out he was involved with Helping Hands, we didn’t think much about it,” explained Shirley. “Then, when Joe was hospitalized at Presbyterian Rockwall, Dr. Lensch told us he was sending in another doctor the next day because he had a Helping Hands event to go to.”
Her husband asked Dr. Lensch to get them some information about Helping Hands because, he said, “If you’re doing it, it’s got to be a good place!”
The Perkins were also grateful for the care provided by the Health Center for an unemployed member of their church when he was ill and without health insurance.
“He was sent to the Health Center, they helped him, he recovered and now he’s a donor,” Shirley said, adding, “Just think, this all came about because of our respect for a doctor.”
Mark your calendar now and join us for next year’s Ambassadors Golf Tournament on Monday, September 9, 2013!
