Enjoying the recent Helping Hands’ Little Red Dress Night at KE Cellars Winery at The Harbor are Amy Conner, Margo Nielsen and Nikki Mutschler. Amy and Nikki are with Texas Health Rockwall, an underwriter for the event that benefited Heart Health screenings for the medically underserved women of Rockwall County.

The top 50 shoppers at the non-profit agency’s thrift stores in 2011 were treated to a night of fine food and gifts. It takes a lot of toys and gift cards to provide a Merry Christmas for the less fortunate kids (ages 0-16) in the Rockwall community with 3 toys each – and Helping Hands is counting on the generosity of this wonderful community to help us do that this year. New unwrapped toys can be dropped off at local fire stations, and Angel Trees with specific needs by age are available at many businesses throughout our community. Helping Hands also needs food during the holidays for our Food Pantry that includes: chili, canned black-eyed peas and canned fruit and meat and personal items such as diapers (sizes 4 and 5), laundry, dish and bar soap, toothpaste and shampoo. Evelyn Harrill and Nancy Barnett of First United Methodist Church of Rockwall join a large group of volunteers that helped fill Thanksgiving baskets that were distributed to Rockwall residents in need by Rockwall County Helping Hands the week of Thanksgiving. The non-profit critical assistance agency served 250 families this year for the holiday compared to 183 last year. Fifty-four of the food baskets this year were donated by sponsors.

The food was picked up from residents by postal employees during their annual food drive. Volunteers such as Richard and Hector and our partners such as the Post Office are the reason our non-profit critical assistance agency can provide food during this holiday season and all year long to Rockwall residents suffering through difficult times. Kroger shoppers help Tackle Hunger in Rockwall County

All of the food purchased and donated recently by Kroger shoppers for the store’s Souper Bowl of Caring Tackle Hunger in Texas campaign was delivered to the Food Pantry at Helping Hands – and not to an out-of-town food bank as was posted on the box in the Rockwall store. Helping Hands wants to thank everyone that contributed and Kroger for supporting our local non-profit critical assistance agency.
