Family Independence Initiative

The Family Independence Initiative Program (FII) is designed to help persons move away from long-term charitable assistance and begin developing the skills necessary to become financially stable. The FII program assists individuals over a 2 to 5 year period as they work toward many life changing goals, including higher education, jobs skills training, home ownership, and life skills training. Each participant is required to attend a 6 weeks life skills training program that includes:

  • Goal Setting
  • Job training
  • Health Services
  • Nutritional Service
  • Financial Counseling
  • Budgeting

Once each participant completes the training classes they begin working on their own plans of service to reach their desired goals. Helping Hands offers case management, financial assistance, and a mentoring program. Helping Hands has seen many positive results from this program, as clients earn drivers license, become business owners, and find jobs that pay a livable wage. If you are interested in participating in the FII program or becoming a mentor, please contact:
