Information & Referral
Helping Hands is the primary Information and Referral provider for Rockwall County. Connecting applicants to appropriate resources and other agencies that can provide more specific help is one of the major jobs in the Assistance and Referral program. Staff members and volunteers maintain a current list of community and area resources that can be used to extend help to families in trouble. Many other State agencies and community based organizations work in partnership with Helping Hands to provide relief to our clients.
Linking people with the right agency for the help they need is an important part of the Helping Hands mission statement. Two important sources in this process are the Rockwall County Resource Directory which is maintained and published by Helping Hands and the Texas 211 Information and Referral Line.
The Texas 211 Information and Referral line is as easy to use as picking up the phone and dialing the three-digit extension. The caller is promptly connected with an Information and Referral Specialist within the North Texas Area that has access to computer generated information
