A big “Thank You” was delivered to the Rockwall Post Office by Helping Hands for postal worker’ efforts filling Food Pantry shelves.
Post Office employees participated in the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp out Hunger Food Drive in May.
“It brought in an enormous amount of food, which postal carriers collect from residents that leave canned food items at their mailboxes,” explained Sherry Hamm, Helping Hands Director of Assistance and Referral. “This drive is a major undertaking and involve many local postal workers, and we greatly appreciate their efforts.”
Mrs. Hamm and her staff delivered gift bags of snacks – each with a “thank you” card – to the Post Office break room at 7 a.m. on July 20. Staff members also decorated the room with notes of appreciation from Helping Hands.
If you are interested in organizing a food drive for the non-profit critical assistance agency, please contact Helping Hands at 972-771-HELP.
“We are nearing the holiday season when food sometimes goes out as quickly as it comes in,” Mrs. Hamm noted. “We are happy to assist anyone that is interested in helping fill our pantry shelves. Just give us a call!”
