Dawn Nelson, Cathy Bedsole and Diedra Roe present a $10,000 check on behalf of Rockwall Women’s League to Melody Hail, Director of Development for Rockwall County Helping Hands. The money is designated for uninsured children that are patients of the Health Center at Helping Hands. Ms. Nelson is president of RWL and Ms. Bedsole and Ms. Roe chaired the Women’s League Ball.
Rockwall Women’s League established the Children’s Medical Fund in 1986 with a check for $1,000. Helping Hands administers the fund, arranging to pay for medical costs for uninsured children in Rockwall County. In 2004, the Health Center employed its first Family Nurse Practitioner and began seeing children on site. Almost 2,500 children received services at or through the Health Center in 2011.
