JOB SUMMARY:
Rockwall County Helping Hands (RCHH) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Development (DoD) to join our team. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Philanthropy, the DoD will play a pivotal role in cultivating and maintaining relationships with individuals, families, foundations, corporations, and the broader community. The primary objective is to garner support and resources for the ongoing needs of RCHH. This dynamic role will encompass donor development, foundation relationships, donor research, events management, marketing, and database administration.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Director of Development will oversee all activities, including but not limited to:
Essential Functions:
- Strategic Fundraising:
- Grow operational funding through strategic and targeted charitable donations.
- Develop and execute an annual Development Plan to measure progress throughout the year.
- Collaborate with the Sr. Director to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward current and prospective donors.
- Donor Engagement and Stewardship:
- Develop and implement comprehensive donor recognition and stewardship programs.
- Manage a donor portfolio, collaborating with the CEO, Sr. Director, and Board to engage donors.
- Cultivate relationships with foundations and grant-giving entities, including facilitating site visits and stewardship practices.
- Communication and Coordination:
- Keep stakeholders informed about the mission, accomplishments, and needs of the organization.
- Communicate and coordinate the Development Plan and activities with the Board.
- Marketing and Outreach:
- Develop and update all agency collateral, including social media content, press releases, program brochures, presentations, and campaign mailings.
- Assist in the creation, production, and mailing of fundraising appeal letters and special announcements.
- Craft monthly newsletters for each department and events.
- Event Management and Logistics:
- Provide logistical support for special events organized by the organization.
- Database Management and Reporting:
- Input and maintain accurate donor database records.
- Generate monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
- Research and Reporting:
- Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
- Prepare weekly reports and maintain regular communication with the Senior Director of Philanthropy.
- Adaptability and Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Philanthropy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience required.
Experience:
- Knowledge of and existing relationships within Rockwall County.
- 3-5 years of Development/Fundraising experience preferred.
- Experience with owning and managing a prospect portfolio preferred.
- Exemplary planning and time management skills.
- Self-starter who enjoys new challenges and adapts well to changing priorities.
Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with a CRM or non-profit database system.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse stakeholders.
- High-level verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong strategic planning skills.
- Creativity, resourcefulness, detail orientation, flexibility, positive attitude, tact and good judgment.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling.
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as tables and chairs.
- Lifting of office materials (up to 25 lbs.).
- Moderate independent travel by private auto required.
Other Information:
- Position involves some evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and present in a positive, professional manner at all times.
- Travel may occasionally be required for educational or business purposes.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Expected participation in professional development activities.
- Employment is dependent upon the successful completion of a background check, including criminal and DPFS clearances.
